Hi, I’m Mod.

I’m a Texas-licensed insurance agent, a mom and a teacher. I help you understand your household numbers and existing coverage before we consider whether insurance fits your needs.

Start with your numbers

Make the numbers feel real.

A monthly plan for everyday life and the years ahead.

Fictional Journal example. Megan has $3,000 of business profit before personal taxes, reserves $600 for taxes and targets $240 in saving. These are not recommended costs or tax rates for everyone. Read her story

Reserve only, not a tax calculation. Federal, state and self-employment taxes depend on your circumstances. Check estimated payments with a tax professional.

10% is a starting target to assess, not a requirement or proof that retirement is funded.

Monthly expenses

(Medical costs, medicines, and health or life insurance premiums you pay yourself. If using take-home pay, do not count premiums already deducted from your paycheck.)

(For example, clothing, hobbies, entertainment, and streaming subscriptions. Do not count items already entered in another category.)

(Money set aside each month for expected costs that are not monthly, such as annual bills, vehicle registration, or planned maintenance. This is a planned expense reserve, not emergency savings.)

About me

Your family comes first.

From caring for my family to understanding our money

For years, I looked after our home and homeschooled our two daughters, while my husband earned our income and managed our finances. We each had our part to play. Then, when our family became ill, I found myself asking a question I could not put aside. If he could no longer work, how would the children and I manage? Money was no longer something I could leave entirely to him. I wanted to understand it for myself.

I started with almost no financial knowledge

I used to think you needed plenty of money left over before you could buy insurance. I did not know there were different kinds, or that I could plan to set money aside as soon as income arrived. Taxes, retirement savings, 401(k)s and Roth IRAs were unfamiliar to me. I wanted answers before making a decision, not a push to buy something. When I could not find explanations that answered my questions, I thought I might as well learn it myself. Then I could look after my family and have a more informed conversation with my husband, too.

I want others to have a place to start, too

The more I learned, the more I thought about people who might feel as I once did. A parent at home who wants to understand money but does not know whom to ask. Someone working hard every day, with little time or money left to think about the future. I want this knowledge to feel within reach, so they can find a starting point that fits their circumstances. Nobody needs to know everything on the first day.

The way I help people comes from being a teacher

When I taught my daughters, I gave them a schedule and the work they needed to do, but let them manage their own time. If something did not click, we sat down together and worked through it one to one. We practised until they understood, then I let them carry on independently. I love seeing someone begin to trust that they can do it, without needing me to explain every step. Alongside homeschooling, I teach Thai to children at our local temple and organise art activities for children and adults. When I teach painting, I don't just look at how the finished picture turns out. I notice when someone feels frustrated or worries that their work isn't good enough, and we work through it together. Some people need to see an example, others learn by trying it themselves, and some need me to sit beside them and explain it again. I want them to feel comfortable asking questions and confident enough to keep trying.

As a licensed insurance agent, I want to hear about your life first

I am a licensed insurance agent in Texas. When we first talk, I want to understand your life before anything else. Your income, expenses, savings and the things you hope to do. I want to help you picture the next three months, one year, five years, ten years, and eventually a time when you may no longer be working. That gives us a clearer view of where you are now and what you would like to prepare for.

Not sure where to start? We can work through it together

You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. Try your own numbers in the monthly planner above to see how your income, expenses and saving fit together. For a starting example, read Megan's self-employed story or Alex's W-2 story in the Journal. These are fictional case studies, not plans you need to copy. And if questions come up, we can work through them together.
